Dead Pedro’s Mexican Kitchen

The Story of Dead Pedro’s

Dead Pedro’s Mexican Kitchen began with an unexpected journey. In late 2019, Pete set off for Mexico, unaware that a global pandemic would soon leave him stranded in Central America for well over a year.

What could have been a setback became something else entirely. Immersed in Mexico’s vibrant street food culture, Pete discovered bold, unforgettable flavours served from the humblest of kitchens. Food wasn’t just fuel – it was culture and identity and Pete fell in love with it all.

When he eventually made it home, he returned with more than just memories, but a mission to challenge the UK’s perception of Mexican food. No more bland fajita kits or processed shortcuts, just real, hearty dishes made with fresh ingredients and deep flavour, representing the region’s rich history, traditions, and culture.

This dream became a reality with a small stall on Brick Lane, where Dead Pedro’s quickly built a following and became a Sunday market favourite. The need for a permanent kitchen became clear and Pete soon found a forever home at the nearby Bow Bells Pub who happened to be looking for a new chef to serve their hungry regulars.

Today, Dead Pedro’s is a proud part of the local food scene, serving authentic Mexican flavours from an historic, much loved East End pub in the heart of Bow. The kitchen is open everyday at 5pm and 3pm on the weekends!
